DPD Germany has been certified as an Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) positioning the parceloperator as a particularly secure and reliable trading partner for customs authorities and
customers.“The AEO certificate officially confirms that DPD complies with the relevant legal and safetyregulations and meets the strict requirements for reliability and liquidity,” said Armin Bohnhoff,Managing Director Operations and Technology, DPD GeoPost (Germany).
The company has achieved the highest certification AEO-F (full) which combines the customs andlegal-related simplifications of the status AEO-C (customs) and the safety-related conditions ofthe status AEO-S (security).
As an Authorised Economic Operator, DPD can now profit from better treatment when it comes tocustoms clearance. The application process becomes simpler, handling gets faster and lessbureaucratic while the products and documents are checked less frequently. In cross-border trade, this brings considerable time and cost advantages. “Our customers certainly benefit from this asthe goods arrive not only safer, but also faster to their destination,” Bohnhoff added.
On 1 January 2008, the European Union introduced the AEO status Europe-wide with the aim toimprove the international supply chain from the product to the end customer to make it safer andmore transparent. For more and more customers, this certification has become an important criterionwhen it comes to choosing their trading partners, DPD Germany added.
DPD Germany has a network of 75 depots, 4,000 parcel shops employing 7,500 staff and operating afleet of 7,000 vehicles across the country.
