Hermes UK has been awarded a two-year contract extension with Scotts & Co, the largestindependent specialist catalogue retailer in the UK, for the home delivery of 2.2 million items
each year. For the first time, Scotts & Co will streamline its existing operations for shipments up to15 kg by consolidating the requirements under a single supplier.
Hermes was originally appointed in 2008 to provide a home delivery solution in the UK for Scotts& Co’s specialist catalogues, handling more than 600,000 consignments annually. This includedthe company’s Scotts of Stow, Original Gift Company and Bloom operations along with nine othergroup catalogues.
The new expanded contract ensures full tracking for all deliveries providing more control overcustomer service queries and improved customer satisfaction.
Hermes collects orders either from Scotts & Co’s fulfilment centre in Swindon or directlyfrom some 300 suppliers. This direct dispatch stock collection service for up to 80% of dailydeliveries minimises the company’s central warehousing requirements and streamlines the overallsupply chain operation.
Jon Tobbell, Commercial Director at Hermes UK, said: “We have worked closely with Scotts &Co to develop a tailored solution that meets the precise supply needs of their range of cataloguebrands and enhances the delivery experience to their customers.”
Keith Greasley, Logistics Director at Scotts & Co, commented: “Hermes has been able toprovide a highly efficient and flexible home delivery solution by working closely with our in-houseoperation and our suppliers. We are excited by the prospect of the new expanded delivery operationthat will boost our ability to track all consignments throughout the supply chain.”
