Service levels for UPS’s international express shipments in the UK have virtually returned tonormal, according to sources at the company, although it is still using third-parties to perform
security screening on some air express shipments.A month on from the Department for Transport inspection that forced the company to close some ofits air cargo screening facilities in the UK, the delays that had been occurring to some outboundshipments have all-but ceased, with no major service disruptions reported.
A spokeswoman told CEP-Research: “UPS continues to work closely with the DfT to address concernsraised in the course of a regularly scheduled review of security requirements. Thanks to our highlyintegrated international air and ground network as well as the effective implementation ofcontingency plans, including the use of third-party vendors, we continue to make progress daily inrestoring service levels for UK-origin international express volume.”
