CityPost acquires fellow Irish operator Document Express Postal Service

CityPost, Ireland’s largest independent postal services company, has agreed to buy theCork-based postal service provider Document Express Postal Service (DEPS).

Established in 1999, DEPS has been servicing the business community in Cork for the last 11years, providing express document and postal-delivery services throughout the Munster region.

CityPost said the acquisition would enhance its existing national network structure,guaranteeing business customers in Munster a further 20% saving on all other postal costs, as wellas secure delivery of priority and registered documentation.

Ian Glass, managing director of CityPost Group, said: “DEPS has an established reputation as apreferred supplier for quality and value, which is in keeping with our own service model. Cork andLimerick in particular are key target areas for us in terms of both investment of infrastructureand employment. This agreement will significantly enhance our network and delivery capability inMunster at a time of strategic growth for the company.”

Established in 1987, CityPost is a family-owned Irish firm, operating its own national networkstructure with an emphasis on high quality, secure distribution. Other than An Post, it is the onlylast-mile operator licensed in Ireland to deliver post, and currently delivers to more than 950,000delivery points every week.

The Group currently employs 188 staff in Ireland and recently announced the creation of afurther 180 new roles nationwide.  The acquisition of Publicity Mailing last month and the newaddition of DEPS will again further increase staff numbers over the next 18 months. CityPost alsohas a large presence in Portugal, where it employs 120 staff.
