DHL has selected BT, the global provider of communications solutions and services, as the GlobalInnovation Partner of its DHL Innovation Initiative to develop new sustainable logistics and
technical solutions.As part of the Global Innovation Partnership, BT will support the DHL Solutions &Innovations (DSI) unit, which is responsible for all the group’s research projects and innovations,Deutsche Post DHL announced.
The two partners have identified a number of areas for joint research and development. One ofthe first priorities for the two companies will be to provide RFID (Radio Frequency Identification)solutions that enable the end-to-end visibility of information required by their customers tomanage the movement of goods. A special focus will be on supporting customers in the emergingmarkets of Asia Pacific, where BT is currently investing to provide next-generation infrastructureand supply chain capabilities and where it recently signed a contract to supply DHL withcommunications services across the region.
