SingPost has acquired the remaining 30% stake in its subsidiary DataPost Pte. Ltd, a provider ofdata printing and mailing services, for S$6.0 million to expand its hybrid mail business.
Now a wholly-owned subsidiary of SingPost, DataPost was set up in 1994 to tap the data hybridmail business in Singapore. Today, it provides end-to-end mailing services including confidentialdata printing, letter shopping and enveloping to major customers such as banks, insurancecompanies, government agencies and telcos.
Over the years, DataPost has expanded into the region and set up data printing facilities eitherdirectly or through joint ventures in Malaysia, Hong Kong, Thailand and the Philippines. The hybridmail company is now the biggest data print provider in the region with monthly print volumes ofabout 28 million impressions and processing about 14 million mail items.
Ng Hin Lee, SingPost’s Chief Executive Officer for Postal and Corporate Services, said: “DataPost provides businesses a cost-effective, end-to-end service covering data formatting, securedprinting, processing and digital archiving. With this acquisition, SingPost will have full controlof DataPost and the flexibility to further develop our hybrid mail business in the region. We willbe able to better support our regional customers with a wider suite of hybrid mail solutions.”

SingPost owns one of the largest retail distribution networks in Singapore with its extensivetrichannel network of over 60 post offices, more than 300 Self-service Automated Machines (SAM) andthe online shopping and shipping portal vPOST.
