DHL Japan on the right track with new e-bill service

DHL Japan said its new e-commerce tool ‘DHL e-Bill’ has been successful within six months of itslaunch, with the number of registered companies now exceeding 3,000.

DHL e-Bill provides customers with real-time access to account and billing information any time,enabling them to view shipping fees online prior to the date of issuing the invoice. The servicealso offers downloadable invoices and waybills, as well as searches of fees and shipment details24/7.

Since the launch, the company said the number of telephone inquiries from customers aboutaccount and billing information has declined compared to 2010, despite the increase in the numberof shipments handled. 

With DHL e-Bill, users can manage invoice data from multiple accounts, with the same user ID.Email delivery of invoice information has also allowed for quick accounting processing.

DHL said the tool has been well-received by customers, who cite the ease with which they cananalyse usage trends and manage costs by downloading invoice data in Excel and CSV format.

Since its launch in September 2010, the number of registered users has grown at a month-on-monthaverage of 140%. The service is registering extremely high usage rates of 99.7% among itsusers.

The launch of DHL e-Bill was part of a series of DHL e-commerce tools to simplify and accelerateprocesses related to international transport. 

In March this year, DHL also enhanced its Import Express Online service for customers usingpay-on-delivery import services, including transport between two overseas countries. Launched in2007, the recent enhancement means that overseas shippers can ship to specified receivers withoutDHL’s Japanese importers having to send shipment instructions each time. This enhanced feature wasa result of customer requests and has made quick and efficient import activities possible forcustomers, the company claimed.

DHL Japan added that it will continue to develop, improve, and provide various e-commerce toolsto further enhance the international express transport process, from shipment to calculation ofinvoice data.
