TNT Express “owns the morning” in Australia

TNT will install a Posisorter in Sydney

TNT Express Australia today launched a new suite of Priority products under the bold marketingslogan ‘We own the morning’. The company is also investing in greater capacity in Sydney.



The product portfolio “gives our customers the widest selection of time-definite next daydelivery windows in the express transport market” and followed extensive consumer consultation, thecompany stated.

The new TNT Express Australia product range comprises three time definite morning deliveryservices: 9:00 Express; 10:00 Express; 12:00 Express. These are complemented by an economicalOvernight Express option.

“Our new products will provide our customers with the broadest and most comprehensive rangeof time-definite delivery services giving them greater flexibility when it comes to meetingimportant deadlines. More importantly, it will give them the freedom to choose the most economicalservice for their particular business requirements, without compromising on service levels,” thecompany said.

The other main Australia domestic services are Road Express, a cheaper but slower service foroverland transportation of less urgent goods, and Sameday Local/Nationwide, offering thefastest-possible dedicated delivery across the country. For international shipments, the companyoffers a range of services, from time-definite 9:00 Express and 12:00 Express deliveries tonext-day Express and slower Economy Express services.

Meanwhile, TNT Express Australia is also investing in larger premises with greater capacityin Sydney as part of a major nationwide modernisation and expansion programme. The company’sPriority and International depot will be expanded and operating systems will be upgraded frommanual to automated sorting.

Dutch supplier Vanderlande Industries announced it has secured a second order at the companyfollowing the opening of the new A$40 million (€26 million) depot at Perth, Western Australia, lastyear. Vanderlande will install an automated sorting system capable of processing up to 4,150 itemsper hour. Two Posisorter machines will form the heart of the new system in the enlarged Sydneydeport.

Greg Plane, TNT’s Manager Engineering and Depot Design, said: “The choice for Vandelande hasbeen based on the fact that Vanderlande has been able to come forth with the best solution fittingall the processes and requirements”.
