TNT Innight grows well in 2010

TNT Innight chief Philip Alliet

TNT Innight, the European night express company, recovered well in 2010 with higher volumes andrevenues, and expects further growth this year.

The company, part of TNT Express, increased shipment volumes by 5.2 per cent to 20.1 millionin Europe last year. Volumes in its core German market rose 11.1 per cent to 14.21 million.

Managing director Philip Alliet said: “With revenue growth of 7 per cent compared to theprevious year we have further strengthened our position as European market leader.”

TNT Innight no longer releases revenue figures. However, TNT announced earlier this monththat its ‘Other Networks’ (TNT Innight and TNT Fashion) made a small profit of €18 million onrevenues of €448 million in 2010. In 2008, TNT Innight had had revenues of €300 million, including€187 million in Germany.

Alliet explained that the positive growth was due to investment in staff and permanentquality improvements. The company is currently investing in a €6 million new depot near Hamburg, due to open this summer, and invested last year in IT systems, returns management andenvironmentally-friendly reusable boxes.

Looking ahead to this year, the manager said he expected the positive trend to continue. “After-sales logistics is gaining importance in all industries. That will impact positively on ourfurther development.” TNT Innight offered its customers a rapid response to technical problems andoverall savings by reduced warehousing costs, he pointed out. “A technician does not wait for thespare parts, but can start straight away,” he commented.

In Germany, TNT Innight employs 950 staff in a network of 23 depots and has a fleet of 1,600vehicles. Its European network covers subsidiaries in Benelux, Denmark, Austria, Slovakia, Hungaryand the Czech Republic, and it can make deliveries in 26 countries in total.
