French parcels company Sernam has signed a partnership agreement with the online deliveryspecialist EnvoiMoinsCher for nationwide express deliveries.
Under the deal, EnvoiMoinsCher (‘Send More Cheaply’) – EMC – will add Sernam to its range ofexpress delivery partners.
EMC users can select the Sernam service online, pay electronically, print the package labeland hand in the parcel at one of the company’s 52 depots for transportation and delivery. Theoperator’s nationwide network of 52 depots means it can deliver goods next-day across France.
Sernam’s commercial director, Eric Sainte-Claire Deville, said: “Our cooperation withEnvoiMoinsCher enables Sernam to strengthen its presence in electronic commerce and to consolidatethe accessibility of its services to the largest number (of customers).”
Jean-Baptiste Renié, founder of the portal, added: “This new partnership reinforces theservices offered by our website. It offers all users the opportunity to ship goods in completeconfidence and also contributes to a larger choice of deliveries for increased transparency on theshipping market.”
Launched in 2008, EMC already works with about 20 other French and international carriers,including Chronopost, TNT, FedEx and UPS, and claims that it offers negotiated prices up to 50 percent below standard rates.
Its business model is to offer online comparison of services and prices as well as onlinebookings with the transport companies. The rates are only available through its portal and are notdependent on parcel volumes. EMC does not release its revenues or volumes sent via its portal.
