USPS has appointed Ronald A. Stroman, with more than 30 years of professional experience ingovernment, legislative affairs and leadership, as Deputy Postmaster General with effect from April
4.Stroman, who most recently served as staff director and senior policy advisor for the Committeeon Oversight and Government Relations at the US House of Representatives, will lead all outreachand communications with congressional and mailing industry leaders while also ensuring positivecustomer experience.
As DPMG, Stroman will play the lead role in continuing to work with Congress to restructure theprefunding of retiree health benefits, adjust delivery frequency, and gain greater flexibility inaligning the Postal Service processing, distribution and retail networks. “He will work closely tohelp strengthen relationships with the mailing industry and identify opportunities to improveinteractions with postal customers,” USPS stressed.
The Deputy Postmaster General (DPMG) position, like the Postmaster General position, is hired bythe Postal Service Governors. As Deputy Postmaster General, Stroman will serve on the Board ofGovernors and on Postmaster General Patrick R. Donahoe’s Executive Leadership Team. The vicepresidents of Government Relations, Corporate Communications and Consumer and Industry Affairs andthe Judicial Officer will report to Stroman.
Louis J. Giuliano, chairman, Postal Service Board of Governors, welcomed the appointment. “Ron’sdepth of understanding of the legislative process as well as his demonstrated ability to work withmembers on both sides of the aisle makes him an important addition to the USPS team as we workthrough the many issues facing us today.”
Stroman has held senior positions at the US House of Representatives, the US GovernmentAccountability Office and the US Department of Transportation, among other positions.
“A manager and a leader, Ron’s career is a testament to his ability to work in a bipartisanfashion and communicate effectively through challenge and change,” Donahoe added.
