Kerry Logistics expands in China with two logistics centres

Kerry Logistics, a leading Asian logistics service provider, has opened two new logisticscentres in China expanding its national network and range of services in the country.

One of the centres is located in Chongqing, a major city in southwest China and one of thecountry’s five largest cities. The first phase of the Chongqing Kerry Logistics Centre has a totalarea of 20,500 sqm and is strategically located at a hub with connections to regional airports,ports, rail and the business district.

The logistics centre in Chongqing will offer a full range of storage and value-added servicesincluding pick-and-pack, reverse logistics, labelling, packing and regional distribution throughoutsouthwest China including Chongqing, Sichuan Province, Guizhou and Yunnan Provinces. Targetindustries include electronics, hi-tech, fashion, automotive and pharmaceutical sectors.

Chongqing is one of the largest municipalities and fastest-growing cities in China with anestimated population of more than 31.4 million. It has a jurisdiction over 19 districts, 17counties, and four autonomous counties.

The second new Kerry Logistics centre is located in Kunshan, a satellite city in the greaterSuzhou region in eastern China. The 18,800 sqm facility lies on the south-eastern tip of KunshanCity and 45km from downtown Shanghai with a similar distance to Suzhou.

Similar to the centre in Chongqing, the Kunshan Logistics centre will offer a full range ofstorage and value-added services throughout east China including Shanghai, Nanjing and HefeiProvince.

Kunshan City has attracted significant foreign investment to its industrial zones includingmanufacturers from different sectors such as electronics, precision machinery, fine chemicals,digital products, software, semiconductors and communications equipment.

Edwardo Erni, the company’s managing director for mainland China, commented: “The new facilitiesin Chongqing and Kunshan add to our existing China network of 130 offices and logistics centres andcontinue our strategy of expanding our presence in emerging and second tier cities across thecountry.”

Kerry Logistics said it is focusing on the electronics, hi-tech and pharmaceuticalindustries.
