Spanish postal operator Correos tests express delivery sales at post offices

Spanish postal operator Correos and its parcel subsidiary Chronoexprés have launched a pilotproject offering two parcel express services at post offices across Spain as part of the company’s

The two services ‘Chrono 10’ and ‘Chrono 14’ provided by Chronoexprés will be piloted at 18 postoffices in Madrid and the towns of San Sebastian de los Reyes, Algete, Colmenar Viejo y TresCantos.

In the next step, the services are to be extended to the main provincial cities and more than500 towns as part of the integration project between Correos and Chronoexprés. The rollout in theremaining offices is expected to take place within the next three months.

Targeted at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), ‘Chrono 10’ offers express delivery ofdocuments and parcels before 10 am the next morning, calculated from the moment the shipment ishanded in. In the same way, ‘Chrono 14’ guarantees next-day delivery before 2 pm.

Both services, with their associated values of reliability and commitment to quality at anaffordable price, add to the wide range of products and services that the Correos Group offers toindividuals and businesses at more than 2,300 post offices spread across Spain.

The project is in line with the company’s 2011-2014 business plan which aims to shift the focusfrom products to customers to offer them integrated solutions tailored to their needs in eachmarket and segment. In this way, Correos wants to take into account the different demands ofindividuals, SMEs, institutional clients and large shippers who require specific solutions.

In addition, Correos was selected as the official partner of the Expo E-Commerce, the nationale-commerce fair taking place in Madrid from 16-17 March for the second time. In the exhibitionarea, more than 180 physical and virtual stores will have their stands. Logistics and distribution,in particular, are the fundamental aspects of e-commerce since a reliable logistics operatordelivering safely and on time is indispensable to achieve a successful sale, Correos added.
