German express operator GO! raises prices and launches tracking app

GO's tracking app

German express operator GO! Express & Logistics has increased its prices for domesticshipments by at least 2% with immediate effect and has launched a tracking application for iPhone

and iPad.

The company said the price adjustment is a result of rising cost pressure in the transportindustry.

Ulrich Nolte, managing director of GO, underlined the increasing pressure, for example regardingstaff and security. “GO will invest in IT and further locations in 2011 to provide a consistentlyhigh quality as shipment volumes are rising,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the company has launched a new app for customers to track their shipments via theiriPhones and iPads. The tracking application developed by the IT company AXIT with an individual GOcorporate design is now available for download via the App Store for free.

“This information quality is new and highlights the strong customer orientation of GO,” Noltesaid. “In addition to the shipment’s status, shipment details can be retrieved anytime from anylocation. We wanted to provide our customers with a tracking tool ready for use at all times.”

On the home page of the GO! App, customers can enter the shipping numbers to view details of thecurrent shipments and the tracking history. They can also mark individual shipments they considerimportant. For these shipments, they will receive automatically an iPhone message as soon as theshipment status has changed.

At the end of last year, the company has launched the internet portal GO! Order & Trackthrough which all shipments can be managed in a simple, quick and flexible way from order entry toshipment tracking and monthly statistics.
