TNT Post

The members of the Dutch unions Abvakabo FNV, CNV Publieke Zaak and BVPP have ratified theagreement in principle that was reached in December last year between TNT Post and the union

leadership.

The ratification enables TNT Post to continue with its planned restructuring programme to beimplemented in consultation with the employees’ representatives.

The deal limits the number of compulsory redundancies as part of TNT’s long-term cost savingsmeasures. The figure of 4,500 compulsory redundancies will thus be reduced to 2,800 by retaining1,700 jobs including at TNT Post’s new “Auto Unit” and the Parcel Service. Moreover, TNT Post hasalso promised to study possible ways of keeping an additional 200 jobs at the “Auto Unit” as partof future organisational changes and will be offering 300 employees temporary employment up to theend of 2013.

The parties also agreed to increase the involvement of assisted reemployment agency TNTMobility, with the aim of decreasing the number of employees who need to claim unemployment benefitby an additional 500.

TNT and the unions will also study the ways in which employees in jobs that are scheduled to beshed can be assisted in finding work elsewhere through a secondment company to be set up by anexternal party. The signs of disquiet among staff that came to light as part of the ArboNedinvestigation will be addressed, with a plan of action being established.

TNT Post said it will continue to do its utmost to limit the number of compulsory redundanciesby encouraging voluntary job mobility wherever possible.

The company expects to be able to clarify the impact on master plans at the time of thepublication of its annual results on 21 February 2011.

The redundancies are a result of declining mail volumes forcing TNT Post to make comprehensivechanges to its organisation in the coming years.
