UK courier CitySprint buys another regional firm

Expanding British courier CitySprint has kicked off 2011 with another regional acquisition andremains on the lookout for further deals.

The company announced it has acquired Swindon-based company Mainlink Courier Services, and itssister business Airlink Worldwide for an undisclosed sum. The company has been re-branded toCitySprint.

Mainlink Courier Services Ltd was established in 1989 by Ann and Bob Hocking and offers a rangeof courier services to regional clients. The couple decided to retire and sell the business.

The new deal will further strengthen CitySprint’s presence in the region following itsacquisition of another local courier firm, Road Runners Ltd, in October 2010, and enabled thecompany to continue its growth strategy which has been fuelled by a period of organic growth andstrategic acquisitions.

CitySprint Chief Executive, Patrick Gallagher said: “CitySprint is very pleased to welcomeMainlink as part of the business. Following the successful acquisition of Road Runners in late2010, this will further consolidate our presence in Swindon and surrounding areas.”

He added: “We are committed to the continued growth of our business both organically andthrough carefully selected acquisitions, which enable us to continue to build our unique nationalnetwork. We are therefore continuously looking for exciting acquisition opportunities across thecountry.”
