New express hub planned at Singapore’s Changi Airport

A new 80,000 sqm Air Cargo Express (ACE) hub is to open at Singapore’s Changi Airport bymid-2012 to target the international express industry with improved facilities to cover markets in

the region.

Leveraging the excellent connectivity of Changi Airport, the ACE Hub will further strengthenSingapore’s position as a key centre for air express companies and their gateway to air expresscargo markets such as in Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania, the Civil Aviation Authority ofSingapore (CAAS) and Changi Airport Group (CAG) announced.

Strategically located within the Changi Airport’s Free Trade Zone, the ACE Hub is a specialisedcargo and logistics infrastructure for use by express companies. It will have direct airside accessto facilitate the unrestricted flow of cargo to and from aircraft, enabling express operators toshorten the processing time for time-sensitive shipments to achieve greater efficiency and speed intransporting express cargo.

Under the Changi Airport Masterplan, CAAS has allocated about 80,000 sqm of land for thedevelopment of the ACE Hub and its supporting airside infrastructure.  CAG will manage thedevelopment and operations of the new facility, which is targeted to be operational in the firsthalf of 2012.
