TNT Express has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Dubai Customs to submit itscustoms declarations through the Business To Government (B2G) channel which provides cost savings
and information protection.Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, Executive Director of Client Management Division, who signed the MOU onbehalf of Dubai Customs, said that it sets up the framework of bilateral cooperation between DubaiCustoms and TNT. This partnership allows TNT to process its customs declarations and complete itstransactions via the B2G channel offering several benefits and advantages including time, effortand cost reduction as well as confidentiality.
B2G is an application within the Mirsal 2 system which was developed and launched by DubaiCustoms last March, he explained.
As part of the MOU, TNT will structure and link its internal IT systems electronically withMirsal 2 system. This means that once TNT enters the declarations into its internal systems, theywill be automatically transferred to Mirsal 2.
“Launching the B2G initiative comes as part of the Department’s continuous development of thee-services provided to the clients and in line with the corporate directives towards completingcustoms declarations electronically,” Musabih commented.
Iyad Moussa, Operations Director UAE TNT, said: “As part of our continual commitment tooperational excellence and maintaining the highest level of service, we are delighted to sign thisMOU with Dubai Customs which will translate into faster clearance procedures for our clients and amore secure, confidential process via E-signature and digital certificates. During the trialperiod, the number of cargo shipments cleared has doubled, and we’re certain that this channel willcontinue to provide value for our customers.”
“Because of Dubai’s strategic location and the large volume of TNT business through thisregional hub, the new cargo E-system initiated by Customs in cooperation with the clients willstreamline our air freight business in the region,” he added.
Both Dubai Customs and customers can enjoy numerous benefits resulting from B2G implementationincluding less human errors, automation of mutual procedures with Dubai Customs and faster clearingof customs declarations. It also eliminates the need for going frequently to Customs counters tosubmit customs declarations and provides a paperless and round-the-clock service, Dubai Customssaid.
