World Press Photo Exhibition in Malaysia

TNT is bringing its annual World Press Photo Exhibition to Malaysia this year. The tourprogramme takes in approximately 100 cities in 45 countries and is still expanding.

As the best known of World Press Photo’s activities, the exhibition has been brought to KualaLumpur by TNT Malaysia and the Embassy of the Netherlands.

The World Press Photo Foundation is an independent, non-profit organisation based in Amsterdam.Its mission is to stimulate the highest quality in photojournalism on an international scale, goingbeyond geographical, political and cultural boundaries.

Gerry Power, Managing Director, TNT Malaysia and Brunei, said: “The World Press Photo Foundationis more than a showcase of photojournalism; it is an archive of world history. The Foundationarchives are a treasure, the pictures touch you visually and emotionally, they add perspective tonews. The images draw you in, take you deeper and make you think- they are not just about showingwhat we already know, but something that asks more of us. TNT is proud to be associated with thisexhibition which is an inspiration to photojournalists across the world.”

YB Dato’ Dri Dr. Ng Yen Yen, Minister of Tourism, Malaysia, was pleased that the exhibition hasfinally come back to Malaysia. ”The World Press Photo Foundation is a channel for photojournaliststo showcase their talents and a record of events in their country. This is an ideal platform forMalaysian photojournalists to showcase Malaysia to the world. I hope there will be more Malaysianparticipants in 2011.”
