FedEx Germany agrees pay increase

Staff at FedEx Express in Germany will get a pay increase of between 4% and 5.5% phased over thenext 18 months under an agreement sealed with the transport workers union Verdi.

The company’s 1,000 employees in Germany will receive an additional €50 per month back-dated toDecember 1, 2010, Verdi announced.

On June 1, 2011, their salaries will increase by 2.8%, including a 2.04% fixed increase and a0.76% performance-related element. On January 1, 2012, the staff will then receive a one-offpayment of €125.

According to Verdi, the deal is worth 4% on a fixed increase basis while the overall dealamounts to a 5.5% pay increase.

The two sides agreed on the new 18-month agreement in mid-December after five rounds of paynegotiations and two warning strikes.
