Mail technology company Pitney Bowes will launch a secure digital delivery service to connecthigh-volume mailers with consumers in the USA later this year, thus competing with traditional
physical mail delivery.Called Volly, the new service represents an online alternative to traditional mail and enablesconsumers to receive, view, organise and manage bills, statements, direct marketing, catalogues,coupons and other content from multiple providers using a single application, Pitney Bowesexplained.
The digital platform, which will be made available to consumers in the USA from the second halfof 2011, builds on Pitney Bowes’s existing Customer Communications Management (CCM) portfolio.Providing a secure, electronic means of communication, it is expected to help organisations achievesignificant cost savings.
Volly expands consumer options for mailers sending high volumes and also gives them the abilityto integrate with their existing physical mail delivery processes. The cost savings generatedinclude reduced operating expenditures.
In addition, Pitney Bowes can help mailers, billers, cataloguers, and government agenciesinitiating the electronic relationship and connecting them with each customer.
The company already connects with consumers in their daily lives. For example, it provides theengine that generates postage labels for millions of eBay shipments every year and handles allAmerican address changes on an outsource basis for more than 40 million moves annually.
