DHL Express France is launching a range of six new packaging products for professionals in thebiomedical and pharmaceutical fields. The new shipping solutions are designed for the storage of
non-infectious biological samples, requiring maintenance at temperatures of +2°C to +8°C or+15°C/+25°C for up to 120 hours.DHL said its TempCell products complemented the range of medical packaging that its expressmedical division offered to the market and said it was responding to the needs of researchers andpractitioners, “who increasingly need to rely on real logistics expertise to ship their samplesaround the world and carry out their research”.
Geraldine Trentesaux, head of Lifesciences & Chemicals at DHL Express France, said thenumber of clinical studies being undertaken was increasing rapidly, and were increasingly beingoutsourced, and that France, in the first rank of European drug manufacturers, was at the heart ofthese developments: “It is not uncommon for biological samples to be treated thousands of milesfrom where they were taken: it requires a well-oiled logistics system, with very specific transportarrangements. We are now the only player in the market to offer such a wide range of medicalpackaging.”
DHL said the new packaging was 100% recyclable and easy to handle, using extruded polystyrenefor insulation. They are available in three interior dimensions – 7 litres, 13 litres and 28litres – for both types of desired temperature range (+2°C to +8°C or +15°C/+25°C), and comewith gel packs, frozen and fresh, whose number can be varied depending on the package size andseason.
