German express company InTime Express Logistik has expanded into the Czech Republic with theopening of a branch office.
The new branch in Plzen, in the west of the country, is the courier company’s 20th branch intotal and a further step in its international expansion. It has also secured capacity at a sortingcentre close to Prague.
InTime said it planned to expand further in the Czech Republic in the coming years as thecountry is a strongly-growing market for urgent transports, which is its core business. Shipmentsare increasing due to the growth of the automotive industry, the company noted. The sector’s strictjust-in-time production relies on urgent deliveries of parts to prevent expensive interruptions tothe manufacturing process.
InTime said it already provides services for numerous automotive firms with operations in theCzech Republic. “We already carry out 40 deliveries a day on average to and from the country. Thatmeans the new branch already has a solid base,” commented director Armin Steiner. Most ofthese shipments are imports from Germany. The new branch in Plzen offers the opportunity to acquiremore outbound transports, he added.
