GLS Italy launches new express and added-value services

GLS Italy has introduced four new services to further diversify its product portfolio forbusinesses and consumers in the country.

The new Express 12 service is a guaranteed pre-12.00 delivery service available from Monday toFriday covering 1,684 local districts across Italy, the company said.

A second new product is the Exchange Service, enabling customers to return defect or unwanteditems, and also attractive to companies that regularly order raw materials, GLS added.

Through the new Document Return service GLS delivers distance-selling paperwork to customers,collects their signatures sends the documents back to the e-commerce or mail-order company. Theservice could be valuable, for example, for mobile phone companies that have received orders byphone but which require signed contracts for legal reasons, GLS pointed out.

The fourth service targets the B2C deliveries sector. Since many recipients are not at homeduring the day, GLS Italy can now send advance notification of a parcel’s status by SMS or e-mailto the recipient, including on the morning of delivery, so the person can be at home to receive thegoods.

“With these new added-value services we are adapating our offering to the challenges of thefuture, offering modern solutions, especially for distance-selling and e-commerce,” said KlausSchädle, managing director of GLS Italy. “GLS Italy is in a growth phase and with the new serviceswe are ensuring that this continues.”
