Trans-o-flex improves service with new delivery confirmation technology

trans-o-flex ThermoMed

trans-o-flex ThermoMed, the specialist for temperature-controlled shipments within thetrans-o-flex family, has launched a new delivery confirmation service including temperature

documentation helping to avoid mistakes and reduce workload for drivers.

In cooperation with its Austrian subsidiary Scherübl, trans-o-flex ThermoMed now offers a uniqueshipment tracking system across Austria following the transition to new delivery computers. The newhigh-tech system uses radio data transmission technology for sending a delivery confirmationmessage which not only includes the usual shipment and recipient data but also uninterruptedtemperature documentation.

Carsten Glos, Managing Director of the trans-o-flex ThermoMed Group, commented. “In Austria, weare the only company to offer such a service. Thanks to our investment in this new technology, ourcustomers immediately receive the delivery and temperature data, which also accelerates theirinvoicing processes.”

The new mobile computers with the sophisticated electronic system ‘trans-o-flex easy’ partlydeveloped by trans-o-flex internally also increase the process reliability while helping to avoidmistakes in the loading process. An acoustic warning signal is released if the driver loads a wrongshipment that is not part of his tour and he can only continue working, when the parcel has beenscanned and taken over by the driver who is responsible for delivering it.

In addition, the new technology minimises the workload for the drivers through the eliminationof the ‘double bookkeeping’ with delivery computers and paper copies after the introduction phase. In future, it will be sufficient to use the mobile computer for the delivery providing anelectronic and forgery-proof delivery confirmation.

With the introduction of trans-o-flex easy, a uniform IT solution is now available within theentire ThermoMed Group that operates nationwide networks in Germany and the Benelux countries forthe transportation of goods within a temperature range of 2 to 8 °C or 15 to 25 °C. “However, ourcountry organisations not only work with standard delivery systems now but also use our standardToks operating system”, Glos explained.

Toks stands for trans-o-flex operating core systems and provides the basis for all internalprocesses. The system controls the handling and information retrieval for all shipments and parcelsincluding programmes related to planning, process control and customer service.

“With the introduction of Toks and trans-o-flex easy, we are now able to ensure the smooth flowof all temperature-controlled transport processes within the entire ThermoMed network”, Glosconcluded. “Thus, we have taken another step to distinguish ourselves from our Austrian competitorsin terms of quality.”
