DHL has teamed up with German electronics retailer ProMarkt to handle the storage logistics ofits new online shop.
DHL Supply Chain, the company’s contract logistics unit, is now responsible for handling theentire order process for ProMarkt’s online shop ‘promarkt.de’. Besides the storage of goods andpicking of the parcels ready for shipping, this also includes transporting the so-called groupageload such as washing machines and TV sets.
Handling of both processes from one source was an important criterion for ProMarkt when choosinga logistics specialist. Rolf Alfter, responsible for purchasing and logistics at ProMarkt,explained. “We have selected DHL Supply Chain due to its nationwide network in the field ofdistribution logistics, especially when it comes to the transportation of giant equipment andfurther services.”
The wide range of around 10,000 items offered in the web shop makes high demands on DHL. At thesite in Staufenberg, close to Göttingen in northern Germany, DHL Supply Chain handles thereception, storage, packing, shipping and the return process for all parcels, in addition to thetransportation of refrigerators, washing machines and TV sets.
Karsten Heubach, responsible for business development in the area of e-fulfillment at DHL SupplyChain, commented: “Thanks to our long-standing experience in the field of distance selling, we cansupport ProMarkt with a perfectly tailored logistics solution. For the dispatch of the goods, weoffer, for example, cut-off times until 9 pm. This means that late orders can also be delivered thenext day with the product reaching the customer faster which is a unique selling point in onlinetrade.”
In addition, customers of the ProMarkt online shop can profit from comprehensive services whenordering big household appliances. Thereby, DHL Supply Chain takes charge of delivering theequipment to any desired destination, the installation and the disposal of old appliances.
