UPS has announced new rates for 2011 including a net price increase of UPS ground packages aswell as air express and international shipments from the USA.
The net increase for UPS ground shipments will amount to 4.9% based on a 5.9% increase in thebase rate, less a 1% reduction to the index-based ground fuel surcharge.
The net rate increase for air express and international shipments also accounts for 4.9% and isbased on a 6.9% increase in the base rate, less a 2% reduction to the index-based air andinternational fuel surcharge.
The new rates will take effect on 3 January 2011.
UPS Freight, the over-the-road heavy freight division of UPS, announced at the beginning of lastmonth that it will hike rates in North America by 5.9% from October 18. A week prior to theannouncement, FedEx also released price hikes of 6.9% taking effect from 1 November.
In mid-September, DHL Express also announced low single-digit price increases for variousregions around the world, including Europe, Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa, effectivefrom 1 January 2011.
