Vanderlande Crossorter solution

DPD is to build a new hub in the Netherlands due to the company’s continuous growth andincreased capacity needs in the country, and has selected Vanderlande Industries for the

construction.

The so-called Holland Hub will be located in Veenendaal, central Netherlands, and will becomeoperational in May 2011.

Michael van Ooijen, CEO of DPD in the Netherlands, said Vanderlande’s proposed Crossorter 1500solution offered many advantages to DPD. These include sorting for both B2B and B2C markets, thescalability in capacity, high throughput potential and flexibility in building. Another importantaspect is the possibility to expand the hub in phases, which is in line with DPD’s businessstrategy.

“Our passion for performance and quality on the one hand and the strong desire to provideoptimal cost efficiency for our customers on the other hand, makes the sorting process crucial inthe success of our depots,” he said.

The challenge for Vanderlande, in terms of the sorter-belt requirements was to combinestate-of-the-art technology with proven performance and energy efficiency. “Our success is foundedon doing things right,” Van Ooijen continued. “The Holland Hub enables us to even up thisperformance level, whilst at the same time staying conscious of minimising environmental impact. With the Crossorter, we integrate maximum flexibility, conveyability and reliability, while alsomaintaining our cost effectiveness and thinking green.”

The system will also provide 10 in-feeds and 30 outputs, with the possibility to expand to 20in-feeds and 75 outputs.
