FedEx Express has upgraded its First Overnight service in the USA by broadening the number ofareas covered by the 08:00 next-day premium delivery service and extending it to Saturday
deliveries.The company claimed that it now delivers by 8 a.m. the next business day to more ZIP codes thanthe rival UPS service, Next Day Early A.M, after doubling its ZIP code coverage in the last fiveyears. The FedEx First Overnight service, introduced 15 years ago and backed by a money-backguarantee, is targeted at customers who ship highly time-sensitive packages, including themanufacturing, banking, law and entertainment industries.
The ZIP code expansion also expands service area coverage for inbound FedEx International Firstshipments. These are inbound shipments to the USA from more than 60 countries and Caribbean islandsarriving in one or two business days by 8 or 8:30 a.m.
The service has also expanded to include Saturday delivery. The newly-introduced FedEx FirstOvernight Saturday service, covered by a money-back guarantee, offers delivery as early as 9:30a.m. on Saturdays to areas covering more than 90 percent of the US population.
FedEx Express has also added an hour to the daily on-call pickup time in more than 7,000 US ZIPcodes. For customers, this means approximately one additional hour in the business day to preparelast-minute shipments.
