Spanish freight transport group Azkar has broadened its portfolio by acquiring air cargohandling company ACL to enter the handling market.
ACL (Cargo Aerospace Logistics) already provides operational management in Spain for Russiancargo airline Air Bridge, which currently flies between Moscow and Zaragoza.
“This acquisition will provide to Azkar’s customers an excellent service regarding air cargo.Azkar is also continuing with its strategy of growth through selective acquisitions in the areas ofAir & Sea Freight, Overland, FTL and Logistics,” the company stated.
Azkar already offers a wide range of parcel and freight transportation and delivery services. Inthe Iberian peninsula it has 73 facilities covering a total of more than 500,000 sqm, 5,000employees and a fleet of 2,200 vehicles. It offers European distribution through Azkar Overland andworldwide export and import services through Azkar Overseas.
In 2009, the company had revenues of €354 million, down from €374 million in 2008.
