Aerologic is celebrating a premiere in the international air freight business as the first cargoairline to operate a flight with three women pilots.
An Aerologic Boeing 777F with three women pilots in the cockpit took off from Leipzig/HalleAirport at last Saturday. The crew consisted of Commander Cristina Rossi, Senior First OfficerMonika Kölling and First Officer Stefanie Däubler. Their flight took them via Bahrain to Singaporebefore returning on Tuesday through New Delhi with an on-time touch-down as usual in Leipzig/Halleat 5.51 p.m.
Flight Operations Manager Josef Moser declared: “This is a premiere in international aviation.Never before has a freighter been crewed by three women pilots. We’re proud of the fact thatAerologic has so many women pilots.”
With women accounting for around 8% of its complement of its pilots, Aerologic is currently wellabove the national and international average. “It is important to us not only that pilots can flywell, but also that they fit well in the existing team, be they male or female pilots,” saidMoser.
AeroLogic, a joint subsidiary of DHL Express and Lufthansa Cargo, currently has more than 160employees, including pilots. An estimated 200 jobs are to be created by AeroLogic, about 160 ofthese in the cockpit. The AeroLogic fleet will include eight leased Boeing 777Fs by the end of2010. The first four planes were delivered in 2009 and two more already in 2010. The last two newaircraft will arrive throughout 2010.
