DPD in Russia

DPD Russia is continuing to expand its geographical coverage across the country with three newoffices opened recently in Bryansk, Izhevsk and Sochi.

Bryansk is located 379 kilometres south-west from Moscow while Izhevsk in the Western Urals areais served by Izhevsk Airport. Sochi is a popular Russian holiday resort city, just north of theborder of the disputed territory of Abkhasia and the southern Russian border fronting the BlackSea.

The decisive factor for opening the new offices was the growing demand for services in the threeregions where DPD has recorded a substantial increase in shipment volumes that is expected tocontinue in the coming years.

DPD Russia said the opening of new offices and terminals was an indicator for growing businessactivity in Russian regions. While in 2009 DPD Russia opened four branches in total (in Vladimir,Ryazan, Tver, and Tula), three new offices were opened alone from May until now this year. By theend of 2010, DPD plans to open at least 12 new offices throughout the country. The company now hasa regional network of 47 depots covering all regions of the country from the Northwest to the FarEast.

Since 2009, market trends identified the need to further expand DPD’s geographical presenceacross the country, not only in major cities but also in relatively small settlements. Therefore,DPD has chosen the most promising strategy for development with the opening of representativeoffices. The newly opened offices operate under the DPD brand in a unified information systemsticking to technology and safety requirements of the company.

Anna Matveeva, head of the agency network of DPD Russia, commented: “In terms of initialinvestment, the opening of representative offices is the most profitable way for DPD to expand itsgeographical coverage.”

DPD in Russia provides full support for newly opened offices supplying terminals with thenecessary equipment. It also manufactures the branding of the fleet, the terminal and the office. The entire agency network operates in a unified information system of the company allowing eachofficial office to offer its customers the complete package of DPD services including express andclassical delivery across Russia. “Thanks to considerable experience, DPD does its best for itsagencies to become a natural part of DPD and customers to be satisfied with its service in everyregion of the country,” the company added.
