DPD launches internet portal MyDPD

Arnold Schroven

DPD has officially launched its new internet portal MyDPD, offering German customerspassword-protected online access to all its services.

With MyDPD, the company said it aims to take the lead in developing web-based logisticsmanagement services. The web portal was activated this month after comprehensive testing with pilotcustomers.

“The aim is to make shipping with DPD even simpler, faster and more flexible,” explained ThomasPreuss, Director Sales & Marketing of DPD GeoPost (Germany). “In the past, DPD already offerednumerous online services which made shipment management easier for customers. Now, every registeredcustomer can control all the processes around parcel delivery with even higher efficiency.”

From now on, the entire range of DPD services is available round the clock in a fullydigitalised form, regardless of whether the customer wishes to place a pickup order, print parcellabels, track a shipment or transmit accompanying information for COD or express parcels.

Address data does not have to be entered manually but can be imported from the customer’s owndatabase. With a convenient order overview, the customer can monitor all forthcoming and previousorders. Search functions and filter options enable individual shipments to be found withoutdifficulty, even if the customer ships large numbers of parcels.

“Most customers will preferably use individual services”, Preuss added. “For small-scaleshippers, for example, the uncomplicated parcel label printing will be very convenient, whilecustomers with large shipping volumes will be able to use the portal to manage their returnshipments quickly and easily.” In all cases, the portal will contribute to improving data qualityand minimising errors, DPD added.

DPD has developed the new online platform in close cooperation with pilot customers. “Ourcustomers have put a high value on a uniform, intuitive navigation taking them, despite manyinformation options, to where they want to go,” Preuss explained.

For DPD, the new service portal has great strategic importance and its development is due tocontinue. “Today efficient parcel management means coordinating goods, data and finance”, explainedDPD CEO Arnold Schroven. “Every parcel which we ship anywhere in the world is connected to data andfinance flows which we organise for our customers.”

Examples of further services which MyDPD will offer in future stages of its development includethe provision of interactive shipping statistics, complete financial status, the uncomplicatedclarification of address errors by the customer, and direct contact with DPD’s customerservice.

“Our aim is clearly defined. We intend to be the leading parcel and express service providerwhen it comes to online parcel management, too,” Schroven summed up.
