German-based Night Star Express Logistik has surpassed its financial expectations for the firsthalf year 2010, with shipping volumes rising at double-digit rates compared to the same period last
year.The high rates of growth from the consortium of seven middle-sized forwarding companies areconsistently above the average of the CEP market, improving its position among Germany’s leadingnight express delivery providers.
“With a double-digit growth in shipment volumes, our expectations have been surpassed,” saidManaging Director Matthias Hohmann.
“Cross-border demand for value-added after-sales logistics in Europe is growing at above-averagerates. We help our clients optimise their storage and personnel costs, and this makes Night StarExpress attractive for its customers – especially in economically difficult times,” Hohmannadded.
Hohmann said Night Star Express had a diversified range of products. “In addition to urgentlyneeded spare parts for the automotive, agricultural and electronic industries, we also transporthorse sperm to studs or bee colonies from bee master to bee master overnight,” he said. “Althoughthis is a special and rather small part of our business, it shows how versatile we are.”
Hohmann claimed the company was also well positioned in operational terms, thanks to its new€3.5 million hub – near Fulda in the state of Hessen in central Germany – that was opened in Marchthis year, tripling its handling capacity and boosting operations.
“We have completed a very successful first half year, and we are convinced that the market willoffer further growth potential in existing and new industries in the coming months and years,”Hohmann concluded.
