Eurodis, the European logistics network of Austrian Post/trans-o-flex, has strengthened itsposition by acquiring new international cooperation partners and with a new IT platform.

To further expand its European combined-freight network, Eurodis has taken on new shareholdersfor France, Great Britain, Ireland and Central and Eastern Europe. In June, French company Sernamand the British operator UK Mail joined the Eurodis network.

“Due to the leading role UK Mail and Sernam play in their respective countries, Eurodis hasmanaged to rise to the Champions League of European logistics cooperation,” said Carsten Siebe,Managing Director of Eurodis GmbH, headquartered in Weinheim, southern Germany.

“In times of globalisation no logistics company will be able to fulfil the customers’requirements without being connected to a powerful international network,” confirmed
Guy Buswell, CEO of UK Mail and Deputy Chairman of the Eurodis-supervisory board.

Philippe Chevalier, CEO of Sernam, added: “We are convinced of the market power of this newpartner constellation and want to play an active part within the Eurodis network, not just tofurther strengthen it in France, but to promote its international development in acustomer-oriented manner.”

Additional partners of the network are trans-o-flex Logistics Group in Germany and Benelux,Redur in Spain and Portugal as well as Austrian Post further strengthening the Eurodis network withthe help of its parcel and logistics subsidiaries, mainly in South Eastern Europe.

“The national competence of all network partners which is recognised by customers is organisedin a solid European partnership. On the one hand, the requirements of the local markets are takeninto account whilst on the other hand a uniform Europe-wide performance promise can be bindinglykept. These are the key success factors for Eurodis and its shareholders,” said Carl-Gerold Mende, head of parcels and logistics at Austrian Post and Chairman of the Eurodis supervisory board.

To be able to organise the international exchange of goods flawlessly and with a high degree oftransparency for customers and partners alike, Eurodis put a new IT platform for data exchangebetween the partners into operation in April following a successful test phase.

The new IT system facilitates the distribution and conversion of the shipment and status dataensuring smooth data flow based on standardised interfaces. “This way the customers of each partnercan continue to work with the system they are used to and also receive the data of theirinternational shipments via this system,” Siebe stated.

The most important distinguishing feature of Eurodis compared to other freight forwarding orparcel networks is the joint transport of palletised goods and parcels within one network (combinedfreight). “The combined-freight model offers sound advantages for companies who want to be flexiblein the organisation of their logistics chain and to whom the efficient shipment of parcels andpallets within one network is important,” explained Kai Schmuck, Managing Director of trans-o-flexLogistics Group.

Eurodis covers over 20 countries through a range of partners with strong national logisticalservice providers from all over Europe having joined together in the European distributionnetwork.
