Leading companies in the international express and parcels industries including DHL, TNT, FedEx,MRW and Sernam made executive and senior managerial appointments during May.
DHL appointed five new executives in Asia last month. Ken Lee became Managing Director of DHLExpress Hong Kong, effective from 1 May 2010. In his new role, he will be responsible foroverseeing DHL Express Hong Kong’s operations, as well as consolidating and steering the expressbusiness to achieve robust growth in the territory. Lee was previously the General Manager of theDHL Central Asia Hub (CAH) in Hong Kong and was responsible for managing the hub’s overalloperations since it was set up in 2004.
In the South Asia Pacific region, David M.J. Foo was appointed as the new Director of BusinessDevelopment for DHL Global Forwarding’s chemicals business in anticipation of further growth on theregional chemical market valued at €1.64 billion in 2008 worldwide. Reporting to Nick Revell,Business Development Director for Life Sciences and Chemicals, Foo will be responsible fordeveloping the company’s growth plans as well as its chemical business network in the region.
In Malaysia, Dennis van der Meijs was named the new Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding.Van der Meijs, who was a Regional Trade Lane Manager in Singapore prior to his appointment, willreport to Sam Ang, CEO, Southeast Asia, DHL Global Forwarding. In Vietnam, Adrian Shou wasappointed as Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding. He was previously Director of Air FreightOperations and Director of Value Added Services at DHL Global Forwarding Singapore. In thePhilippines, Duncan Gates was appointed as Country Manager for DHL Express Philippines.
In Europe, Ian Wilson was appointed as the new chief executive of DHL Express CZ/SK replacingthe interim general manager Ludek Drnec, who will keep his sales director position.
In the USA, Kim Dixon was named the new executive vice president and chief operating officer(COO) of FedEx Office, the retail office services unit of FedEx Corp., effective June 1, 2010. Inthis role, Dixon will lead and oversee the company’s global retail and print operations. As COO,she will lead a number of key divisions, including global retail operations and planning, retailand supply chain management, real estate and development. Dixon joins FedEx Office after workingwith Sprint Nextel Corporation for 14 years, where she most recently served as senior vicepresident of consumer sales and gained extensive experience in retail operations, sales, andmarketing
In Germany, Pieter de Wit will take on the new position of Managing Director Finance at TNTInnight. With more than 20 years of experience in the finance sector, Pieter de Wit has extensiveknowledge in financial controlling and management as well as strategy development andimplementation. In the past few years, he worked as Director Planning and Business Control for theTNT Group.
In France, Dominique Maupu (46) joined the French express parcel operator Sernam as vicepresident and management board member. He previously occupied the position of CEO at darty.com andworked as executive director at ‘K par K’.
In Spain, express operator MRW appointed Aurora Morilla as marketing director to manage allpolitical and strategic tasks related to marketing and communication. This includes coordinatingdifferent departments such as brand management, advertising, market research and pressrelations.
