Toll acquires Australian transport company and wins logistics contract

Leading Australian transport and logistics operator Toll Group has acquired the assets ofConcord Park, a privately owned interstate transport company, and won a logistics contract with

department store Kmart Australia.

With revenues of around A$90 million (€62 million), Concord Park offers distribution, thirdparty logistics, timeslot deliveries into distribution centres, overnight express deliveries andbulk linehaul services across Australia.

“The business combines full truck load (FTL) and less than a truck load (LTL) services and willbe a valuable addition to the Group following its integration into the Toll Express business,” saidToll Group Managing Director Paul Little. “The integration of Concord Park will generatesignificant synergies with our existing businesses and we expect the acquisition to be EPS positivein year one,” Little added.

In recent years, Toll has strongly expanded its business with numerous acquisitions in Asia andthe Middle East. Last year, the company acquired the Asian operations of Deltec in Hong Kong,Singapore and Australia and two small businesses in Hong Kong – Kwikmail and Skynet. It alsocompleted its takeover of Japanese company Footwork Express, one of the leading Japanese logisticsoperators with annual revenue of some A$775 million (€475 million), to gain a leading position inthe country’s domestic express market. In the Middle East, Toll bought Logistic DistributionSystems (LDS), one of the leading private international freight forwarding companies in the UnitedArab Emirates (UAE) with revenues of approximately A$50 million (€30.8 million).In 2008, TollHoldings acquired the Australian courier and express transport group Courier Australia and NewZealand’s trucking company United Carriers.

Separately, Toll in2store, a division of Toll Global Logistics, entered into an agreement withthe discount department store Kmart Australia to manage its new distribution centre in Victoria.The 76,000 sqm facility is currently being built in Truganina, a suburb of Melbourne, and isscheduled to start operations in April 2011.

The distribution centre will warehouse and distribute apparel and general merchandise to 80stores throughout Victoria, South Australia, Northern Territory, Tasmania and New Zealand. Foundedin 1969, Kmart now operates 182 stores throughout Australia and New Zealand.
