La Poste is increasing its mail prices by 1.6% on average from 1 July onwards with its postaltariffs still remaining among the most competitive in Europe.
After stable prices for the previous 16 months, the upcoming increase will enable the Frenchpostal operator to finance the largest universal postal service in Europe, La Poste said in astatement.
According to the new price adjustments, the stamp price for letters weighing less than 20g willincrease by €0.02 from €0.56 to €0.58. According to La Poste, the new tariffs will have only aminimal impact on households with additional monthly costs of just €0.10 per household.
For companies, which generate more than 90% of the mail volumes in France, La Poste hasconsidered the difficult economic environment and adjusted its tariffs accordingly. For largemailers, the prices for relational and advertising mail will not increase this year.
Moreover, to meet customer expectations in terms of simplifying its product range and prices, LaPoste has created a pay scale table targeted at professionals, freelancers and very smallbusinesses.
Finally, the French postal operator has taken into consideration the situation of small andmedium enterprises in the current economic context and decided to limit the rate increase to 0.6%for the product “Destineo Free Spirit” tailored to their needs in terms of communication anddevelopment.
La Poste said its tariffs represent the European average compared to other regional postaloperators while the public service commitments such as geographic constraints are higher in France.La Poste thus provides mail delivery on six days a week to every point of one of the largestterritories in Europe and where the population density is relatively low, the company stressed.
