Challenges and opportunities top agenda at World Mail & Express Europe

Digitisation of mail, growth in delivery services and environmental challenges will be three ofthe key topics to be discussed by postal chiefs at next month’s World Mail & Express Europe

conference in Copenhagen where the annual World Mail Awards will be a further highlight.

Under the slogan ‘Trust, Delivery and the Environment’, the World Mail & Express Europeevent, to be held from June 16-17, will examine how postal operators are coping with majorchallenges such as the decline in traditional letter volumes and seeking to take advantage of newopportunities for business growth.
 
The World Mail & Express Europe conference, now in its 18th year, and the associatedWorld Mail Awards are renowned for their contact-making and networking opportunities. More than 350senior executives attended last year’s event.

Welcoming the event to Scandinavia for the first time, Lars Nordström, CEO of Swedish-Danishoperator Posten Norden, commented: “These are exciting times in our industry in Scandinavia – ourmerger creates a powerful new postal service and we are delighted that World Mail & ExpressEurope is coming to our region for what will be a highly informative conference”. Nordström willkick off the event with a presentation on “The strategic benefits from a cross-border merger”.

Other Day 1 speakers include Clement Cheung, Postmaster General, Hongkong Post, who will presentan Asian perspective on the changing role of postal operators, Botond Szebeny, Secretary General,PostEurop, who will explain how Posts can leverage the trust in their brand, and IPC President& CEO Herbert-Michael Zapf, who will outline the environmental challenges.

Other sessions cover the progress and impact of European postal liberalisation and theopportunities created by hybrid mail. Improving delivery services will be a major topic on Day 2,including a presentation by John Acton, Executive Vice President of Geopost, along withperspectives on ‘the virtual world’.
