New executives at Correos, FedEx Europe

Senior appointments have been made at Spanish postal operator Correos, FedEx Express Europe andDHL Express Asia Pacific in April and early May.

Alberto Lafuente will be nominated as the new president of Correos y Telégrafos in place ofSixto Heredia, the Spanish economics ministry announced yesterday. Heredia, who became head ofCorreos in November 2008, will become a financial advisor in the Spanish Embassy in Lisbon.

Since 2005 Lafuente has been director general of the Spanish state lottery technical systemoperating company, which runs the largest online transactional network in the country. Hepreviously held various posts within the Spanish Industry and Energy ministry.

FedEx Express has appointed Nathalie Amiel-Ferrault as Vice President Customer Experience forEurope, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent and Africa, heading the EMEA Customer Experience andCustomer Service organisation in the region. She replaces Antje Schütt-Fahrenkrog who has movedinto the role of regional Vice President Operations, Central and Eastern Europe and Israel.

Amiel-Ferrault previously successfully led the FedEx EMEA Brand & Communications teams whereshe worked closely with the Customer Experience organisation and took the lead on developingstrategic communication plans that accelerated FedEx EMEA’s transition to a truly customer-centricculture. Amiel-Ferrault, based at FedEx EMEA hub at Roissy-Charles de Gaulle in France, joinedFedEx Express in 1991 and has held a variety of positions in the marketing and communicationsfunctions in Europe and the Middle East.

In Asia Pacific, Chee Yaw Chek became general manager of DHL Express Taiwan on April 1 withresponsibility for all business operations. Chee joined DHL as deputy country manager in Hong Kongin 2006 and then became vice president of the strategy development and performance management forDHL Express Greater China Area. Last year he became marketing director for DHL Express Hong Kongand Taiwan.
