Geodis has completed the acquisition of small parcels operator Ciblex which will become theFrench market leader’s new “0-30 kg parcels” network.
The acquisition announced on 17 March was closed on 22 April, with Ciblex becoming an integralpart of the company’s groupage division, Geodis announced. Speaking at the occasion, Jean-LouisDemeulenaere, CEO of Geodis, and Bruno Mandrin, director of the groupage division, talked about therole and organisation of Geodis Ciblex, the group’s new “0-30 kg parcels” network. They alsopresented the parcel operator’s new graphic identity.
Ciblex, with revenues of €155.7 million in the year ending June 30, 2009, delivers 22 millionparcels a year. With a 700-strong workforce and more than 700 subcontractors, Ciblex is aspecialised autonomous network able to manage late collections, up to 8 pm in Ile-de-France, fornext-day deliveries before 8 am, 9 am, 10 am or midday, depending on the service required. It has anetwork of 18 branches in France, two in Belgium and one in the Netherlands along with 90associated depots.
The parcels specialist broadens Geodis’ range of small parcel solutions, especially ine-commerce, health, optics, high-tech products and spare parts, sectors in which Ciblex plays aleading role. It also rounds out the Geodis transport offering in Belgium. At the same time, GeodisCiblex customers will now benefit from the group’s international multi-business offering.
