DHL Express Spain saves 4 tons of CO2 with electronic invoicing

DHL Express Iberia has successfully introduced electronic invoicing in Spain and reduced itsenvironmental impact by saving 1344 kgs of paper and four tons of CO2 last year.

Launched in 2009, the e-invoicing solution already reduced paper consumption in Spain by morethan a ton in the first year. This represents saving of four tons of CO2 emissions into theatmosphere which is needed to produce more than 270,000 sheets of paper. Over 3,000 customersalready use this DHL service in Spain.

An electronic invoice is a functional equivalent to a paper invoice although the document istransmitted through electronic means. This solution represents a customer service improvementsimplifying the billing process and reducing costs. DHL Express electronic invoices are alsodigitally signed with recognised certificates, with the maximum security for transmission andabsolute confidentiality for clients.

Furthermore, customers can see all the invoices issued during the past 12 months on the websiteof DHL Spain. This makes it easier for them to track the amounts invoiced during the year, DHLExpress Iberia said in a statement.

This recently launched service is part of DHL’s global climate protection programme GoGreenwhich aims to improve DHL’s carbon efficiency by 30% by 2020. Its “GoGreen” service guarantees thatall carbon emissions occurring during transportation are measured and offset with greeningmeasures.
