FedEx expands international deferred services

FedEx Express has extended its deferred delivery services for US customers to more marketsaround the world in response to changing demand and market conditions.

The express operator said it has further extended its International Economy (IE) andInternational Economy Freight (IEF) services to more parts of the world. It now offers FedExInternational Economy Freight from the USA to more than 130 countries and territories compared tothe previous figure of 80 countries and territories. FedEx International Economy service is nowavailable from the US to more than 215 countries and territories.

These services provide door-to-door, time-definite delivery representing an economicalalternative for less urgent shipments with the same quality, service and reliability as the otherFedEx services. Key features of the FedEx Economy services include delivery in 2-5 days, 24-hourreal time shipment status tracking at fedex.com and via e-mail as well as customs-clearance andmoney-back guarantee.

FedEx International Economy services feature competitive rates that can range up to 28% lessthan FedEx International Priority rates. In addition, small and medium exporters can benefit fromfurther savings through the FedEx PyMEx programme, designed to help these companies successfullypenetrate the global marketplace.

This latest expansion of the economy services is part of the global trend with customersdowntrading from expensive express services to slower but cheaper transportation in a difficulteconomic environment. All the other express operators, including DHL, UPS and TNT, have alsoexpanded their economy services in recent years.

The expanded FedEx IE and FedEx IEF services complement the existing FedEx Express internationalportfolio, which includes FedEx International Priority, FedEx International Priority Freight, FedExInternational First and FedEx International Next Flight, designed for more time-sensitiveshipments.
