DHL Supply Chain has been awarded a £30 million, three-year contract by the UK food companyBirds Eye Foods to handle exclusive distribution of all Birds Eye frozen foods to customers across
the country.As part of the contract, DHL will manage Birds Eye’s entire supply chain. It will transport allBirds Eye frozen foods by road and ferry from all European production points to Birds Eye’snational distribution centre in Birmingham. It will also be responsible for the onward distributionto retail and wholesale distribution centres.
Under the deal, DHL Supply Chain will handle around 550,000 pallets annually and manage allrelated activities to ensure seasonal peaks in product harvesting are supported.
DHL has also reviewed Birds Eye’s existing supply chain and transport network, creating a newsolution with reduced supply chain costs and fewer transport miles in support of Birds Eye’ssustainability agenda, while maintaining a high level of customer service at all times.
