DHL Supply Chain has opened a new warehouse for Sony Australia and Sony Computer EntertainmentAustralia to integrate the company’s consumer electronics, broadcast, professional and PlayStation
products in one single location.Based at Erskine Park in Sydney, the 20,000 sqm purpose-built facility will provide increasedefficiencies for Sony and is the result of a six-month construction period. In addition to thewarehouse space, the new facility offers 600 sqm of office space and has been built to satisfygreen credentials with rainwater capture and native vegetation on site.
“The new DHL facility will provide Sony Australia with greater flexibility in managingfluctuations in the demand for warehousing,” said Nic Foster, General Manager of BusinessOperations for Sony Australia.
“As a business, this will further strengthen our supply chain and allow us to adapt to the needsof our retail partners across the country. The inclusion of Sony Computer Entertainment in thisfacility will result in material and practical benefits for both our businesses in the areas ofoperational efficiency, freight optimisation and customer service,” he added.
DHL Supply Chain was appointed Sony Australia’s logistics operation supplier in 2008. Thecompany has worked with Sony Computer Entertainment in both Australia and New Zealand since2006.
