DHL Express has opened a new air-side gateway facility inside the Bandaranaike InternationalAirport in Sri Lanka to strengthen its position in the country while making import and export
processes more efficient.Located north of Colombo, Sri Lanka’s largest city and capital, the €274,000 gateway providesfaster clearance and seamless handling of in-bound and out-bound international consignments whichwill further strengthen DHL’s expertise in Sri Lanka. As a result of faster recovery and processingtime, customers will benefit from throughput time of 60 minutes on import consignments and anadditional 30 minutes on export consignments. The 4,572 sqm facility is scaled to accommodatefuture growth over the next 5 years, DHL Sri Lanka said in a statement.
The facility is fully equipped with CCTV, CIA Imaging, material handling equipment, radiofrequency scanners, customised racking System, electronic data interface, 24 hour in-house customsand security screening.
