British parcels carrier APC Overnight has been awarded a delivery contract by the retailsolutions specialist Torex to provide a nationwide next day courier service for its mobile
computing support division.The Torex Mobile POS Support department supplies Motorola, Intermec and other Mobile POSterminals to a range of customers throughout the UK.
The APC Overnight network enables Torex to compile accurately priced new business proposalsbased on guaranteed next day deliveries and to improve its customer service levels. It alsoprovides a clearer view on the shipping costs. Furthermore, the Torex Mobile POS Support departmentcan now concentrate on the business as they no longer have to waste time chasing late deliveriesand lost items.
“We chose APC Overnight because we needed a more flexible, guaranteed next day delivery servicethat would better suit the needs of our customers. We are a demanding customer because our clientsneed our products to run various functions with the mobile computers in their stores. Late deliveryof new equipment could cause major problems for them. Also, in the event of a mobile computerfailure, or when faced with routine repairs, we have to be sure that the exchange equipment isdelivered to them when they expect it,” said Helen Slaven, Vice President of Retail, Torex.

Torex Mobile POS Support uses the NetDespatch online booking and tracking system, which wasinstalled by the local depot. However, the company has not had to use the system to track shipmentsas everything runs smoothly and accurately to plan. The system speeds up administrative processesas it allows Torex to follow up parcels and interfere if necessary.
