DPD Austria had a successful year in 2009 with a turnover increase of 1.6% thanks to itscustomer-friendly, expanded services confirming its leading position as a B2B parcel operator in
the country.Compared to 2008, DPD’s turnover in Austria rose to a total of €147 million in 2009 which equalsa year-on-year increase of 1.6%.
In 2009, DPD Austria delivered 35.7 million parcels. At the national level, the company recordeda 3.3% decline while exports rose by 4.2%.
“It was not self-evident for us to gain a profit in difficult times like these. Our target for2009 was to maintain the 2008 level,” said Rainer Schwarz, CEO of DPD Austria GmbH.
Last year, DPD put a particular focus on customer needs. The newly launched catalogue shippingservice was especially welcomed by customers, the company said in a statement. The SMS Avisoservice turned out to be similarly popular. This informs the recipient on time by SMS when theshipment will arrive, thus considerably simplifying processes and time management.
“It is particularly important to us not only to meet the various traditional requirements butalso the individual customer needs. With the additional services, we are able to expand oursuccess. This is a valuable proof for the quality of our work,” Schwarz stressed.
