The German time-critical courier company In Time Express Logistik has been awarded a majorcontract by the international automotive supplier TRW for its direct courier deliveries in
Germany. As the largest time-critical courier firm in Germany, In Time won the pan-European freighttender organised by TRW at the beginning of the year. With time-critical direct deliveries from onesource instead of a multitude of local operators, the leading manufacturer of braking; steering andsuspension systems expects to considerably reduce costs and simplify processes.
TRW commissioned In Time to carry out all of its direct deliveries within Germany where TRWoperates 17 locations. In addition, In Time will also deliver from Germany to Central and EasternEuropean countries.
Due to the general unpredictability of the direct delivery business, it is difficult toanticipate shipment volumes, In Time said. It expects significant sales volumes per year from thedeal. “We are proud to have won a major customer in our most important industry,” said In Timemanaging director Gerd Röttger. The company generates around three quarters of its turnover fromthe automotive and supplier industry.
Through the re-organisation of its direct deliveries, TRW expects to further optimise qualityand costs. “Customer relationships in our industry are based on the common goal of continuouslyenhancing the whole process chain. Through closer cooperation with In Time in the field of directroutes, we can secure our high delivery reliability and react to extraordinary requirements of ourcustomers in more flexible way,“ explained Helge Wöbke, Head of Logistics EMEA & AP at TRW.
Through this cooperation, TRW is further reducing the number of its logistics providersreplacing them by highly specialised companies with large geographical coverage. “Besides theprice, In Time has convinced us with its high quality and tracking standards. As the first-tiersupplier of car manufacturers, it is very important for us to ensure a permanent transportmonitoring and shipment localisation,” Wöbke added.
