Vanderlande CROSSORTER system

Korea Post to deploy Vanderlande sorting systemsKorea Post has ordered two parcel and postalsorting systems from the Dutch logistics system manufacturer Vanderlande Industries to improve its

operations. The contract value was not disclosed.

The two CROSSORTER systems will be used for the Bu-Pyeong post office project of Korea Post. They provide a total capacity of 20,000 parcels per hour, 10 infeed lines, 78 spiral chute outputsand one feedback line to be supplied by Daesung, Vanderlande’s Korean partner.

The contract with Korea Post was secured through a public tender procedure. The sale has beenconfirmed following the announcement by Korea Post that Vanderlande Industries had successfullypassed its technical evaluation process.

“This project in South Korea is particularly important as it is the first of eight tenders forupcoming Korea Post projects scheduled for the coming years,” Vanderlande said in a statement. These are the first CROSSORTER systems to be sold on the Asian markets.

The CROSSORTER offers a highly flexible solution for handling mixed flows of smaller and largerpostal and express parcel items. Flexibility and capacity of the system are maximised by the use oftwo cross belts on a single carrier. Both cross belts can operate independently, carrying separateitems, or together for larger items spanning both belts. The wear-free linear motors ensure lowenergy consumption and minimal maintenance needs, while the dual belts provide built-in redundancyfor risk-free operation. With its flat cross belts, the CROSSORTER ensures maximum conveyabilityfor items of widely varying shapes and sizes, together with excellent accuracy and sortationreliability, Vanderlande explained.

The order also includes a Vanderlande Industries FSC Equipment Controller for controlling thetransport belts and sorting equipment, as well as facilities for scanning, telecoding, manualcoding and destination server (to be supplied by Daesung).
